Bringing Therapeutic Massage

To Your Door

cupping therapy, also known as cupping, is an alternative therapy that has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It involves creating a vacuum inside glass or silicone cups and placing them on the skin. The vacuum is typically created by heating the cups or using a mechanical suction device.

During a cupping session, the cups are placed on specific areas of the body, usually the back, but they can also be applied to other areas such as the shoulders, neck, or limbs. The vacuum created by the cups draws the skin and underlying tissue upwards into the cup, resulting in a localized suction effect.

There are different techniques of cupping, including:

Dry cupping: The cups are placed on the skin and left in position for several minutes. This technique is typically used for general muscle tension release and relaxation.

Fire cupping: The cups are heated using a flame before being applied to the skin. As the air inside the cup cools down, it creates a vacuum effect. This technique is commonly used, and the heat can help enhance the therapeutic effects.

Cupping is believed to promote blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate the flow of qi (vital energy) in TCM. It is often used to address conditions such as pain, inflammation, respiratory disorders, and musculoskeletal issues.
